2022 Asogli Yam Festival: Secretary to Asogli State Council apologies over lapses

The Secretary to the Asogli State Council in the Volta Region has apologized to the Council and the Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong for the administrative lapses caused during the 2022 Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival).
The Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival) is celebrated by the Chiefs and People of the Asogli Traditional Area.

There were reports that the Paramount Chief of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede, and the chiefs and elders allegedly rejected some gifts from the camp of the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong.

The development has since generated controversies but explaining the happenings in a statement the secretary to the Asogli State Council, Stephen Tetteh said he accepted all wrongdoing of the occasion.
According to him, Mr. Agyapong requested, through his representatives, an invitation to attend the Yam festival.
But to him, the Asogli State Council disapproved his request following background of “several loose comments and utterances he made which the council viewed as unbecoming of an honourable member of Ghana’s parliament.”
Against this background, Mr. Tetteh has apologised to the MP and the Asogli State Council for the unfortunate incident.
“In view of the above, I accept responsibility for the administrative lapse which resulted in sending of an invitation letter to Mr. Agyapong. I apologise to the Asogli State and Mr. Agyapong,” he said.
