Ashantigold placed injunction on start of 2022/23 Ghana Premier League

Ashanti Gold SC has placed an injunction on the upcoming 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League season following their demotion from the topflight league by the Ghana Football Association (GAF).
The Obuasi-based club on Thursday, September 8, 2022, secures an interlocutory injunction from an Accra High Court to suspend the new season scheduled for the weekend of September 9-12, 2022.
The Disciplinary Committee of the GFA in the 2021/22 football season demoted of Ashgold and Inter Allies to the Division Two League respectively after they were found guilty of match manipulation.
However, the two clubs petitioned the FA’s decision, but it was squashed leading Ashanti Gold SC to take the action by securing the injunction.
Their action is in line to protest the FA’s decision to demote them to Division Two.
The injunction ordered that the restraint “shall last for ten days unless extended upon request put before the court”.
