CHAN Qualifiers: Black Galaxies wallops Benin 3-0

The Black Galaxies of Ghana on Sunday, July 24, 2022, emphatically recorded a 3-0 score line over Benin in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers.

Goals from Accra Hearts of Oak trio Afriyie Barnieh, Mo Alhassan, and Gladson Awako put Ghana in a commanding lead ahead of the 2nd leg next week.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh put the Galaxies ahead through a penalty spot in the 25th minute.

On the stroke of halftime, Jonah Attuquaye thought he had doubled the lead for the Black Galaxies but only to be ruled out for offside.

Back from recess, Accra Hearts of Oak’s Mohammed Alhassan extended the lead for the home side after the Beninese failed to deal with Imoro Ibrahim’s corner kick.

Captain Gladson Awako later put the icing on the cake with a brilliant curled goal inside the penalty box to seal the victory for Coach Annor Walker’s side.

The Black Galaxies will thus be prepare for the return leg scheduled for Saturday, July 30, 2022, in Port-Novo, Benin.
