Coalition of Nurses announced strike action
The Coalition of 2019 posted nurses in Ghana has announced to embark on a hunger strike and also lay down their tools in September and October later this month following the non-payment of their allowances.
They have declared Friday, 30, and Saturday, October 1, 2022, respectively to go on hunger strike and lay down of their tools.
According to the group, their actions follow the government’s failure to pay them all their outstanding eight-month arrears.
In this regard, the group has threatened to strike because the situation has brought to them unending hardship and hunger.
“As professional nurses, we have nursed our clients for all these months on empty stomach because of the love for the jobs and our clients but we are currently at our wits end, enough is enough.
“Government should as a matter of urgency expedite payment for all 2019 posted nurses so we can continue serving our mother Ghana,” they said in a statement.
Adding that until their demands are met “all 2019 posted nurses” will “lay down their tools until further notice.”
