Dead body discovered in Wa

The Ghana Police has confirmed that a dead body has been discovered in a shallow grave around Napogbakole residential area in the Wa municipality in the Upper West region.

The deceased is suspected to be one of the alleged kidnapped security men in the area.

The body was later identified by family members of the deceased as Seidu Baga who was reported missing on 16th September 2022.
The body was subsequently exhumed and conveyed to the Regional Hospital, Wa for autopsy and investigation.
Police are providing clinical psychologists to offer psycho-social support to the family.

On September 16, 2022, some residents of Wa in the Upper West Region demonstrated to express their displeasure over the recent alleged killings and kidnapping of some residents in the region.

Meanwhile, reports indicates that from 2021 to 2022, a total of 9 persons have been allegedly murdered /kidnapped in the region under some strange circumstances.

Following this, the youth demonstrated at the Wa Naa’s palace to exercise their displeasure over the bizarre killing and missing.

They also demand justice from the Regional Security Council and leaders in the region to apprehend the suspects engaged in the act.

“The special purpose police intelligence and investigation teams working with members of the community on 18th September 2022 discovered a body in a shallow grave at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa.
“The body was later identified by family members of the deceased as Seidu Baga who was reported missing on 16th September 2022.
“The body was subsequently exhumed and conveyed to the Regional Hospital, Wa for autopsy and investigation.
Police are providing clinical psychologists to offer psycho-social support to the family,” a police statement added.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Chief Superintendent of Police Director, Public Affairs, stated that a special purpose investigation and intelligence teams as well as additional police visibility and crime teams have been deployed to Wa under the leadership of the Director-General of Operations.
