Reason Dr. Bawumia has become the talk of town

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has become the talk of the town on social media following a comparison statement he made between the Ghana Card and the infrastructure deficit to roads in the country.

He said he would on any given day choose the National Identification Card better known as Ghana Card over road interchanges in the country’s quest for development.

Dr. Bawumia made the statement while addressing Ghanaians on the cou,ntry’s decision to seek economic assistance at the IMF Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the official launch of the Accra Business School’s IT Programmes.

He stated categorically that the national identification card is more beneficial than 1,000 interchanges.

“We have implemented a national identification system and today we have 16 million Ghanaians with unique identities and that is a major transformation. And sometimes a lot of people don’t even appreciate what the impact of the Ghana Card is.

“But if you gave me 1,000 interchanges and a Ghana Card, I will choose the Ghana Card because it is more impactful,” the vice president declared.

But barely 24 hours after making the ‘controversial’ statement, he had taken the center stage on social media most especially on Twitter space.

Celebrated broadcast journalist Deloris Frimpong Manso popular known as Delay also tweeted that she need to get acquire her Ghana Card with immediate effect.

Another Twitter bearing the name Martin Acquah-Darlinton wondered why such a comment from the Vice president was hailed by the audience who was present at the gathering.

He wrote “N dey clapped for him. Wat kind of audience do dey talk to.”

Another netizen also stated, that he now understands why nothing has been done about the perennial flooding causing havoc in Accra whenever it rains.

Last but not the least, @Djilah urged the vice president to stop joking about, the emotions of Ghanaians because the Ghana Card will not serve as an avenue to provide food for the citizens let alone fuel to fuel their cars.
