Kumasi Asante Kotoko Coach (Prosper Ogum Nartey) Resigns

Former WAFA and Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach. Prosper Narteh Ogum has bid an emotional farewell to Asante Kotoko after resigning as head coach at end of the 2021/22 season.

He decided to leave the club last month July 2022 following an emergency meeting with the club management and Board of Directors.

The former West African Football Academy (WAFA) tactician is believed to have cited personal reasons to call it a quit with the reigning Ghanaian champions.

Meanwhile, he officially tendered his resignation letter, and thus bid a farewell to the Kumasi-based club.

Prosper Ogum Nartey in his farewell message, thanked the porcupines of the club for the time spent together.

“Our journey, as a team, met some obstacles when we lost some matches and missed out on trophies, but we continually enjoyed the unflinching support of the fabulous family and soared.

“The backing of our supporters over memorable wins at Dormaa, Tarkwa, and Sogakope made us feel like champions. Our efforts were crowned with winning the Ghana Premier League after eight (8) years making Kotoko the best club for the season,” Prosper Nartey said.

He also indicated that the period spent with the club will remain in his heart forever.

“My journey at Kotoko was short-lived but the varied experience during this period will always remain dear. The passion, warmth, and love I was welcomed with made me feel at home. Indeed, my dream of becoming a kotoko coach, which I constantly told my students, had come to reality. Though enthused about joining one of the biggest clubs in Africa, I knew I was brought there for a reason. The mission was to deliver.

He explained that guiding the reds to their Africa campaign and defending the league trophy was his aim but he felt regrettable to leave them in midstream.

“If any action of mine caused any pain, I am sorry. You are and will remain family! Truthfully, I am humbled and hope our paths cross again,” Prosper Ogun Nartey noted.

Prosper Nartey who joined the Kumasi-based club before the start of the 2021/22 season helped the team win their first Ghana Premier League title after seven years.
