
Rocky Dawuni, an award-winning Ghanaian reggae artiste, who has been nominated for the 2023 edition of the 65th Grammy Award has welcomed the honor done him.
The celebrated reggae artiste was nominated on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, through his song titled ‘Never Bow Down’ featuring Blvk H3ro.
His nomination comes in the Best Global Music Performance category of the 2023 Grammy Award.
Other contending nominees in the category include Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar, Matt B and Eddy Kenzo, Burna Boy, Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikod.
Rocky Dawuni in 2015 became the first Ghanaian to be nominated for a Grammy with his sixth studio album, ‘Branches of The Same Tree’ in the Best Reggae Album category.
He once again got nomination in 2021 with his ‘Voice of Bunbon Vol. 1’ album, also in the Best Global Music Album category.
Commenting on his nomination, Rocky Dawuni took to his official social media handles was excited and appreciated on his recognition.
“I am truly honoured to be nominated for another #Grammy award for my song “Never Bow Down” feat. @blvkh3ro,” he said.
According to the musician, the recognition is not only for Ghana but the entire “Africa and the Caribbean coming together on this global root anthem.”
He concluded by adding that “Thank you to everyone who was part of this project, and congrats to my fellow nominees. This is a song of the times to inspire all of us to #nevabowdown. Ghana to the world! Africa to the universe.”
