Volta Region: Storekeeper and driver in police custody for stealing Free SHS food items

The Volta Regional Police Command have arrested the storekeeper and driver of the Sovie Technical and Vocational High School in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region for allegedly stealing food items belonging to the school.

The suspects, Allias Dziwu and his personal driver Christian Mane, are believed to have make away food items belonging to the school.

According to reportages, the driver, Christian Mane, was caught by some students at the school as well as residents of the area while transporting the stolen food items to an unknown destination.

The incident reportedly happened on the evening of Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

The DCE of the area Edmund Kudjo Atta who confirmed the matter to Accra-based Asaase Radio News indicated that the food items were part of the consignment received from the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited.

It was aimed to feed the students and to also address shortage of food in second cycle schools.

Following the arrest of the two suspects, Mane, the driver, confessed to the act and said he was sent by the storekeeper, who happens to be the owner of the taxicab he drives.

Meanwhile police have in their custody the suspects whiles they assist in the investigation.
