Water shortage to hit Koforidua after shutting Densu water plant

The Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL) has with immediate effect shut down the Densu water plant at Koforidua-Akwadum in the Eastern Region following the recent flood in the area.

As a result, the GWCL in a statement on Monday, October 3, 2022, served notice that their decision will affect the flow of taps to customers in Koforidua and its surroundings.

“The management of Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL), Eastern Region, regrets to inform residents in and around Koforidua that due to the flooding of the Densu water plant at Densuano, the plant has been shut down, hence the volumes of potable water supplied to the municipality will reduce,”

“This situation will lead to low pressures and as a result, some taps will not be flowing at normal times but rather in the nights and odd hours especially,” part of the statement added.

The GWCL has therefore urged its customers to store enough water during the night and odd hours to avoid being affected by the development.

“We entreat consumers to store enough water any time the tap is flowing.
The inconvenience this will cause is very much regretted.”
