Wizkid, a Nigerian Afrobeat singer, has apologized to Ghanaians who purchased tickets for his alleged performance (concert) at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 10, 2022 but were turned down.
According to prior reports, Wizkid was scheduled to appear at the Accra Sports Stadium last night for a performance branded as “Wizkid Live In Ghana,” but he did not.
Sadly, Wizkid did not appear despite the fact that fans had paid between GH300 and GH3,200 for tickets to see him play.
Even at three in the morning, the fans waited for Wizkid to pull a surprise, but the event concluded without him.
Since then, many have used social media to express their outrage at how he treated them.
After receiving several hours’ worth of angry tweets from fans who had traveled to the event venue to see Wizkid perform live, the artist has finally made an appearance on social media to apologize to customers who are upset over his failure to show up for his event.
He shared a post that read, “Love you Ghana 🇬🇭💙”
Ghana is a country I hold so dear to my heart, first and foremost I wanna apologise to all my fans! Y’all know I would never do anything, without a serious reasoning behind it. My brand is something I don’t joke with! I sincerely apologise, to everyone who made the effort to come out for me last night. I was charged up, looking forward to doing this show. However, please understand that every decision I made co-sided with honoring my fans, and would only make a drastic decision like this because it was the right thing to do and I had to. Unfortunately, up until the day of this show, there continued to be safety and production issues that prevented me from putting on a high quality show that my fans deserve. My Team and Myself are working on delivering a show to my amazing fans in Ghana. It will be just us, me and you. Date and details soon. Love you all.
In the wake of the performer’s breach of the agreement, the Wizkid Live concert’s organizers have expressed regret and criticism. They wrote,
“For any inconvenience this may have caused, we sincerely apologize. Please provide your ticket barcode to our email so that we can grant everyone a complete refund.”
